ELVES – They are known as the Keldar, the noble race of the Elves. They are often called the Thuvan by members of the other races. They were created by Athiliel, and are thought to be His children. His desire was to have an open fellowship with them and for them to tend Anarra as good stewards of His precious gifts. They are the Apple of His Eye, and are often referred to as the Chosen Ones. They are immortal and do not age as mortals do. Unless they contract some hideous form of disease or they are killed in battle, they will live forever. Tall and graceful, they are the most beautiful race of beings upon the face of Anarra. With their delicately pointed ears and long, flowing hair, they are easily distinguishable from all others. They are unmatched in their speed and quickness, making them tremendous hunters and trackers. They prefer to use the bow rather than the sword or axe, but they are often well versed in all forms of weaponry. Their flowing language, Keldarin, is light and musical. It trips off their tongues almost like a song whenever they speak. They enjoy living closely with nature, most often making their homes in tree houses within the forests or in airy caves high in the mountains of the world. They also love to live along the coastlines of the sea. They rarely seem to congregate in towns or cities as humans do. They do not like the feel of manufactured enclosures. They respect the other races whenever their paths cross, but prefer to remain separate from them whenever possible. They rarely kill others unless provoked to do so in self-defense. They are divided into seven Clans or Houses, and are extremely proud of their lineage. A ClanLord is chosen or appointed from each of the tribes to rule over that House. Ruling as Supreme Lord over all seven Clans is the High King of the Elves himself. The Keldar were once honored and respected by all the races of Anarra, but long ago, Muurda turned the hearts of all men against them, blaming them for all the problems and evils in the world. This unreasoning hatred grew to such insidious proportions, Vandikar, the longtime home of the Elves, was laid waste by forces in league with Muurdra, and the Keldar were scattered across the entire face of the Eastern continent. Today the seven Clans seldom, if ever, associate with one another, but with the winds of war brewing across the land, that may well be changing. The seven noble clans of the Elves must somehow pull together or be annihilated.
DWARVES –
HUMANS –
GORGULS – A lightly scaled, evil race of foot soldiers. They were spawned by Muurdra long ago in imitation of Athiliel’s creations. They were specifically patterned after the race of Humans. Somewhat smaller than Elves or Humans in overall stature, they have incredible endurance and make tenacious fighters. Their thick skin is light yellow to greenish in color. Their bat-wing shaped ears and two large, up-thrusting tusks make them very distinguishable. They usually wear their long, dark hair in a topknot near the back of their elongated skulls. They are cunning as well as relentless in battle, but they are a little slow in terms of their own mental capacities. They are able to endure the sunlight, but do not care for it much. They usually prefer moving about at night, where their large, slitted eyes, similar to those of a cat, function best. Whenever there are large numbers of them together, there is usually a Morlung close-by to direct them.
MORLUNGS – A tall, corpse-like race of beings roughly humanoid in appearance. Although they are actually alive, they are often mistaken for walking corpses. Because of their appearance they are often called Necromors. They have deathly white-looking skin and give off an incredible stench like that of rotting flesh. They possess long, flowing white hair and have totally black eyes. They are extremely rare in numbers, due to savage wars fought across the face of Anarra in the distant past. They are incredibly cunning and are very powerful in their usage of the dark arts. They serve as the brains behind Muurdra’s vast armies of gorguls. They often function as field generals, devising the battle plans for any large campaigns. They normally direct the soldiers’ battle movements from the rear of their formation. They are even believed to have the ability to take over the conscious minds of lesser beings, especially animals, in order to manipulate them to do their will. They are Muurdra’s corruption of the Elves.
